Good news out of South Africa, as the regulator there, ICASA, has approved the use of 60GHz V-Band in PtMP outdoors configurations to build 1Gbps mesh networks – which opens the door to cost-effective Terragraph deployments for Gigabit speed FWA. This is a massive opportunity for wisps to deploy high-speed networks and compete directly with the FTTX sector without the expense, wayleaves, or long deployment times.
Siklu is among the vendors with ICASA type approved equipment already available there and looks forward to working with WISPs, resellers, and other partners to increase broadband availability and choice throughout South Africa.
